Mentioning your own product is not automatically spam on Reddit — context decides

Reddit mods usually care less about ownership and more about behavior. A post becomes suspicious when it pushes one link, ignores the thread, or reads like a one-note ad. If you show up only to drop your product and leave, you look like spam even if the product is real.

Safer patterns:
— Answer a question first, then mention your tool if it genuinely fits.
— Use a founder account with history, not a blank profile.
— Describe the problem, the tradeoff, and who it is for.
— In product-heavy subreddits, check whether self-posts are allowed before you post.

What triggers removals fast:
— Repeating the same pitch across multiple communities.
— Linking on every reply.
— Hiding the commercial angle and acting like a neutral user.
— Ignoring subreddit rules about promo, surveys, or launches.

A good rule: if your post would still be useful without the link, you are usually on safer ground. If the link is the whole point, you are probably posting too early or in the wrong place.
