The hack: 6 seconds = easy 100% completion = viral. It games the metric and loses the war.
TikTok doesn't reward raw completion percentage in a vacuum it weighs total watch-time and rewatch alongside it. Ten people finishing a 6-second clip is 60 watch-seconds; ten people watching 70% of a 40-second clip is 280. The longer video wins on the signal that scales.
Short just makes the fraction look pretty while the absolute time stays tiny.
Reframe: don't maximize a percentage, maximize seconds held.
