Write your restore runbook before the outage, not during the panic
Nobody reads docs at 3am with the site down and clients screaming. Build it now:
— List every credential needed to restore, store them OUTSIDE the dead server
— Write exact commands, copy-paste ready, no "figure it out" steps
— Note where each backup lives and how to reach it without prod
— Include the DNS and TLS steps, people always forget those
— Hand it to someone junior and watch them restore with zero help
If only your brain knows how to recover, your brain is the single point of failure. Change my mind.
