Amazon category cuts hit hard when your content mix is too narrow

If most of your pages chase one category, a rate change can drain the whole site. The fix is not to publish random product lists. Build a mix where each content type has a different job: category hubs for broad intent, comparison pages for buyers, and long-tail reviews for high-converting searches.

Use three checks before you expand: 1) does the page attract traffic without a brand name, 2) can it switch to another merchant if Amazon weakens, 3) does it cover a product group that stays relevant across seasons. If the answer is no, it is a risk, not an asset.

Rebalance by grouping links by use case, not by commission. Add alternatives inside the same article, but keep Amazon where trust and selection are strongest. For home, kitchen, tools, and everyday consumables, the page should still make sense if a reader ignores one merchant altogether.

The safest sites are not the ones with the highest clickthrough. They are the ones where no single category can break the whole model.
