That advice predates Instagram's own creator team telling people 3-5 is plenty. Word from inside is hashtags are now a weak topic signal, not a reach lever — the recommendation engine reads your caption, audio and on-screen text far harder. Stuffing 30 broad tags actively dilutes the topic vector you're trying to send. Your scheduler's 'saved hashtag groups' feature is a relic; treat tags like keywords, not lottery tickets. Quality of signal beats quantity of tags.
