SOP #45 — "Traffic going up means revenue is safe" is wrong
Myth: rising sessions protect earnings. Correction: traffic and money can move in opposite directions; you must trace revenue to its actual source page and keyword. Verify the earning engine, not the chart:
1. Identify the top 10 revenue-driving URLs (affiliate clicks or ad RPM by page), not top-traffic URLs.
2. Confirm those money pages still rank — a #2 review page slipping to #6 kills income while total traffic looks fine.
3. Check the share of revenue from a single page — 60%+ from one URL is concentration risk, flag it.
4. Pull traffic-by-keyword: is growth from low-intent informational terms that don't convert?
5. Match the monetized geo to the traffic geo — new traffic from non-monetized countries inflates sessions, not income.
Growing traffic on dying money pages is a trap. Audit the pages that pay.
Save this — run it every deal.
