Email list vs SEO traffic for affiliate income
Everyone worships SEO traffic. Rented land. You don't own a single ranking.
SEO: massive scale, free per visit, but one core update or one SERP feature can halve your traffic overnight with no warning and no appeal.
Email list: smaller, slower to build, but it's an asset you own outright. Algorithm-proof, sends on command, and converts warmer because the trust is pre-built.
The tradeoff:
— SEO: huge reach, total platform dependency, volatile.
— Email: lower volume per send, durable, immune to Google's mood.
The smart play uses SEO as the acquisition top and email as the owned middle, so a ranking drop doesn't erase the audience.
Verdict: SEO traffic you don't capture is a customer you'll have to re-earn every visit. Convert rankings into a list, or keep renting.
