Google wants a list — you gave it a paragraph

Google wants a list — you gave it a paragraph

Today's lesson: a featured snippet (the answer box on top) comes in shapes — a paragraph, a list, or a table. Google picks the shape that fits the question.

Real example: search steps to change a tire and the box shows a numbered list, not a wall of text.

The mistake: a how-to page writes its steps as one long paragraph. Google wants a list for step questions, can't build one from your blob, and gives the box to a tidier page.

The fix:
— For steps, use a real numbered list (1, 2, 3).
— For comparisons or prices, use a simple table.
— Match your format to how the question sounds: steps, best, vs, price.

Think of it like packing — socks in the sock drawer, shirts in the shirt drawer. Right shape, right place.

Try this: find a step-by-step post written as a paragraph and break it into a numbered list. 🎓
