Myth: cross-posting the same thread everywhere maximizes reach
The popular take is to blast one piece to Threads, Bluesky, and X simultaneously with a cross-poster and let the numbers stack. In practice the identical-link, identical-text dump underperforms on every platform.
Tested Typefully's multi-network publish for 14 days against hand-tweaked versions.
— Identical copy: flat engagement, Threads buried link posts hard
— Per-network edits (link in reply on Threads, no link on X): roughly double the replies
The correction: use a cross-poster that lets you edit each variant before send, not one that mirrors verbatim. Typefully and Mixpost both allow this; many cheaper tools don't.
Annoying limitation: Typefully's per-network editor is on the paid tier ($12.50/mo and up).
Verdict on verbatim cross-posting: Skip. Per-network editing: Worth it.
