Checklist: LinkMiner vs Check My Links extension — when each fits
Scanning one page for dead outbound links. Two free-tier tools.
1. Quick manual scan of a single resource page you're viewing → Check My Links (Chrome extension). Highlights dead links inline, instant.
2. Need backlink count on the dead URL to qualify the opportunity → LinkMiner. Shows referring domains beside each 404.
3. Decision rule: extension for speed during browsing; LinkMiner when you need to know if the dead link is worth chasing.
4. QA gate: the extension flags JS-blocked links as broken — re-verify those manually.
Automation: extension is manual-only; for scale, escalate to a list-mode crawler instead.
Definition of done: each page's dead links found AND each qualified by referring-domain count.
