I pitched the intern, not the editor
Big industry blog, head editor never replies. So I checked LinkedIn for their newest 'associate editor' — hired 5 weeks ago, zero followers, desperate to prove worth.
Pitched them directly: "Saw you joined [blog], congrats — I've got a piece ready that fits your [section]."
Replied in 2 hours. They WANTED a win to show their boss. Published my post in 8 days, the senior editor never even knew.
The junior person has time and something to prove. That's your in.
Go find the new hire.
