The whole point of sync is that a change here instantly becomes a change everywhere. So when ransomware encrypts your local folder, it cheerfully syncs the encrypted garbage to the cloud and to every other device in seconds.
You delete a file by accident? Synced. Gone everywhere.
Version history helps a little, until it expires or the attacker exhausts it.
Real backup is a separate copy that does NOT change when prod changes. Sync changes by design. Change my mind.
