Bulk URL Inspection via API: the workaround for the 50/day cap
GSC's UI inspection caps hard, but the Inspection API doesn't. Tools wrap it for bulk runs.
Setup: enable the API, then use a connector — Screaming Frog (built-in), Indexability scripts, or a Sheets add-on.
What it does well:
— 2,000 inspections/property/day — 40x the UI limit
— Pulls coverage state, last-crawl, canonical and indexing verdict in bulk
— Screaming Frog's integration cross-references crawl + real index status in one table
Where it falls short:
— No Live Test via API — you only get the cached/last-known state, not a fresh render
— 2,000/day still chokes on truly large sites; you batch over days
— Setup needs API enablement and OAuth, a hurdle for non-technical users
Pros: 40x quota, bulk index truth, crawl-joined
Cons: no live render, daily ceiling, setup friction
Best for: auditing index status across thousands of URLs.
NOT for: deep-diagnosing one URL — the UI's Live Test wins there.
