Find Which Element Is Your LCP

LCP — Largest Contentful Paint — is the moment your biggest visible thing (usually a banner image or headline) finishes loading. Before you can speed it up, you need to know exactly which element it is. Think of it like finding the slowest runner before coaching the team.

Here's how to spot it:

1. Open your page in Chrome, right-click, choose Inspect.

2. Click the Performance tab, then the round Record button.
—
3. Reload the page, wait two seconds, hit Stop.

4. In the timeline, find the marker labeled LCP and click it.

5. Chrome highlights the exact element on your page below.

Nine times out of ten it's a hero image or a big block of text. Now you know your target.
