Every post you publish is a maintenance liability. 5/week = 260 pages/year you now owe refreshes, internal links, and decay-watching forever.

Low-key, most teams drown in their own backlog by month 8. The site looks 'active' and ranks like a graveyard.

My rule now: don't publish faster than you can refresh. We cap new posts so 20% of capacity stays free for updating old ones.

Result: average page age went UP and so did traffic, because nothing rots unwatched. Cadence is a budget, not a flex. Set your cap.
