Schema.org ships versioned releases — and most of you never read them
Reminder from the source: Schema.org pushes numbered releases (you're well past version 25+) with new types, property additions, and the occasional quiet retirement, each documented in a public release notes page.
Why it matters and why nobody tracks it: Google only supports a subset of Schema.org, so a shiny new type can be perfectly valid Schema.org and produce zero rich results. The reverse also bites — Google occasionally supports properties before they're cleanly settled in the spec.
What it means for you — treat Schema.org's vocabulary and Google's structured-data docs as two separate sources of truth, and validate against both. Watch this: bookmark the Schema.org releases page; new commerce and creative-work types tend to foreshadow Google features.
