I counter: "$300 works if I get two do-follow links instead of one, and you let me update it in 6 months." Half the time they take it because the cash is the same to them.

Now I've got two links and a refresh clause for the price of one placement.

Last deal I turned a $250 single into $250 for two links plus a homepage mention.

Never accept the first quote. Go do it.
