Negative Reddit threads can spread fast—use this response playbook before replying
First, classify the thread: support issue, factual error, bad experience, or attack. Check your records before replying. Never ask employees or customers to downvote, mass-report criticism, or crowd the comments.
Reply once from an identifiable brand or founder account. Acknowledge the issue, correct only verifiable errors, and skip marketing language. Disclose any affiliation. Never reveal private customer details.
Use this sequence:
• State what you can confirm.
• Give the next step and one contact route.
• Set a realistic response window.
• Post a brief update when resolved.
Move order numbers and account data to private support.
If the claim is false, share evidence calmly and stop after one correction. For threats or harassment, use the subreddit’s reporting process. Do not debate every commenter; extra replies increase risk.
Treat repeated complaints as product research: fix the friction, then let future conversations show the change.
