Three fundamental research errors that drain your marketing budget
Market research should find objective truths, not validate guesses. The common mistake is confirmation bias, where teams ignore negative feedback and focus only on data that supports their hypothesis. This leads to launching campaigns the market does not need.
Another trap is relying solely on quantitative data. High traffic or low bounce rates do not explain user motivation. Combining hard metrics with qualitative feedback provides the context necessary to understand customer pain points and decision-making triggers.
Data collection without a clear objective is a waste of resources. Before starting, define the business decision the research will influence. If the results will not change your strategy or creative approach, the study is redundant and only creates noise.
Prioritize the quality of your sample over volume. A hundred answers from your core audience are worth more than thousands of entries from random users. Focus on identifying the friction points that prevent your ideal customer from converting.
