Before swapping links: a quick checklist for any alternative program
Check the payout model first. If the old offer paid on one action and the replacement pays on another, your traffic may still convert but the math changes. Look at cookie window, locking rules, reversal behavior, and whether affiliates can promote the same traffic sources you already use.
Next, compare the landing path. A better commission is useless if the new flow adds extra steps, mobile friction, or weak geo coverage. Open the page on desktop and phone, test the signup or checkout path, and see whether the program supports deep links, product-level pages, or only a generic homepage.
Then review tracking and partner terms. You want clear reporting, stable attribution, and easy access to subIDs or postbacks. Check whether coupon, cashback, email, and paid traffic are allowed. If the program is vague on traffic rules, assume you will spend time fighting compliance later.
Finally, look for replacement risk: brand strength, payment schedule, approval process, and how easy it is to rotate links back if performance drops. A program that pays well but takes weeks to approve or switches terms often is not a real substitute. Keep a backup list, update your redirects, and test the new offer on a small slice first.
