Myth: "I'll compare a few independent brands and pick the best."
Many aren't independent. Large holding companies quietly own dozens of hosting brands that share infrastructure, support pools, and pricing playbooks. You think you're choosing between rivals; you're choosing between storefronts on the same warehouse.
Follow the money: more brands means more affiliate listings, more search real estate, and the illusion of choice — all funneling to the same back end. A "comparison" between two brands under one roof is theater.
Check the parent company before you trust a head-to-head.
Reality: Sometimes the contest is rigged because both contestants are the same company.
