Rate cut? Update the pages that actually send money first
When an affiliate program cuts commissions, don’t rewrite the whole site. Start with pages closest to revenue: comparison pages, “best X” lists, product reviews with strong click-through, and landing pages tied to your top converting keywords.
Then move in this order:
• pages with the highest traffic and affiliate exits
• pages ranking for commercial-intent queries
• pages with outdated payout claims, screenshots, or bonus mentions
• pages that mention the program in headings, tables, or FAQs
If a page is informational and barely sends clicks, leave it for later. If a page drives signups, treat it like a portfolio position: update the offer, adjust the angle, and replace any weak CTA that was built around the old commission. A rate cut usually hits pages with too much program-specific wording and too little flexibility.
The safest fix is to make the content service-first: compare alternatives, explain use cases, and keep the monetized option as one choice, not the whole article. That keeps the page useful if the offer changes again.
Audit from the top of the funnel down. The pages that matter most are the ones that can lose money fastest.
