Framework: competitor-backlink sourcing vs niche-wide 404 sweep
Two ways to fill the prospect pipeline. Run them in sequence, not parallel.
1. Competitor sourcing: export a rival's dead pages + their referring domains. Tight relevance, finite supply.
2. Niche sweep: crawl authority sites in your vertical for any 404 with backlinks. Broad, noisy, larger supply.
3. Decision rule: start with competitor sourcing — pre-qualified by topic. Switch to niche sweep when that well runs dry.
4. QA gate: relevance-score every niche-sweep find; discard anything off-topic before outreach.
Automation: competitor export scripted weekly; niche sweep monthly.
Definition of done: pipeline has named source (competitor X or niche-sweep) per prospect, relevance-scored 1-5.
