The restore drill insiders run before they trust any host
Heard this week: a tenant who 'had daily backups' discovering they hadn't run since the platform migration. Backups you haven't restored are rumors. The drill:
— Trigger a full restore to a staging slot, not production.
— Time it — a backup you can't restore inside your downtime budget is decoration.
— Verify the database came back with the files, not one or the other.
— Confirm media, redirects, and email config survived.
— Pull one off-host copy you control, monthly.
A source tells us post-acquisition platform changes silently break backup jobs more than any other failure.
Watch this: hosts that resist a restore drill are telling you something.
