The pin dimensions a designer fixed in an afternoon — and why it mattered
A web designer pinned her portfolio in tidy 1:1 squares because they looked clean. They also got buried — 7k monthly impressions, barely scrolling into view.
She ran a format fix across her library:
— Rebuilt her template at 1000×1500 pixels (the 2:3 ratio Pinterest favors in the feed)
— Kept the key text in the top third, where it survives feed cropping
— Made sure text was readable at thumbnail size, not just full-screen
Taller pins simply occupy more vertical space in the feed and stop the scroll.
Re-pinning her work in 2:3 lifted average impressions per pin from 7k to 21k over two months — same images, more screen real estate.
Takeaway: Square pins shrink in the feed; 2:3 tall pins own it. Rebuild your template at 1000×1500 and keep your hook in the top third.
