Case #034: Two spy tools, one creative theft
Launching a skincare offer, I needed winning angles fast. I paid for both AdPlexity ($149/mo) and BigSpy ($99/mo) for one month and ran the creatives each surfaced as separate campaigns, $1,600 total.
AdPlexity's top angle: a before/after "dermatologist refused to explain" hook. $800 spent, $1,180 back, 47% up. Its database leaned native and pop, deeper but narrower, and it showed me actual landing pages and the affiliate networks behind them.
BigSpy's top angle: a UGC-style "I was skeptical" video. $800 spent, $1,020 back, 27% up. Its strength was social — Facebook and TikTok creative volume that AdPlexity barely indexed, with engagement counts I could sort by.
The real lesson wasn't which won. AdPlexity gave me the funnel (lander + network); BigSpy gave me the creative format (the video style). The campaign that actually printed money was the one I built combining them — AdPlexity's lander logic under BigSpy's video hook: $900 fresh spend, $1,640 back, 82% up.
Final read: AdPlexity is a forensic tool for stealing whole funnels in native and pop. BigSpy is a trend radar for social creative volume. Paying for one and expecting the other's strength is how you waste $149.
The lesson: spy tools aren't competitors, they're different lenses — buy the lens that matches the channel you're attacking, or stitch two together and out-build everyone using one.
