A 5-step triage when your RevShare NGR suddenly drops
NGR (net gaming revenue) fell 30% month-over-month and the panic is to blame the traffic. Triage in order before you touch the source.
▸ Step 1 — Split new vs existing players. If existing-player NGR held and new dropped, it's an acquisition problem. If existing fell, it's retention or product.
— Step 2 — Check bonus cost. NGR is gross win minus bonuses; a new promo can crater NGR while volume looks fine. Pull the bonus line separately.
— Step 3 — Inspect sportsbook hold/margin. A run of player-favorable results (big underdog weekend) cuts operator margin and your share — temporary, not structural.
— Step 4 — Look at deposit frequency, not just totals. Fewer deposits = churn; smaller deposits = downturn or limit changes.
— Step 5 — Only after 1-4 come back clean, audit the traffic source for GEO drift or quality decay.
Benchmark of the day: across ~20 investigated NGR drops, ~45% traced to bonus/promo cost or sportsbook variance — not traffic — and reverted within one cycle.
