Link in the post vs link in the first comment
Everyone says: "Never put links in the post — drop them in the comments to avoid the reach penalty."
The claim: LinkedIn suppresses any post with an outbound link, so hide it.
What's actually true: the penalty is smaller and more situational than the folklore claims, and the comment trick costs you something real — most readers never tap into comments, so your click-through craters to recover a reach difference that's often marginal. LinkedIn also now adds the link back to the post itself in many cases.
Put the link in the post when the click is the goal and you can afford slightly less reach. Use the comment only when reach is the goal and the link is secondary.
It's not the penalty. It's that you're optimizing impressions over the clicks you actually wanted.
