The redirect crowd loves it because it's easy to reason about and easy to swap. That's exactly why it's the first pattern every review pipeline learned to smell. The on-the-same-surface crowd has a harder build and a worse debugging life, but they're not lighting a flare every time someone clicks.
Easy to operate and easy to detect are usually the same property wearing two hats.
