Your crawler is not Googlebot, and treating it like one misleads you
Myth: run a desktop crawler, see what Google sees.
No. Screaming Frog and Sitebliss crawl breadth-first, fast, with no concept of crawl demand. Googlebot crawls by priority and scheduling — it'll fetch your homepage hourly and ignore a deep page for weeks. Your crawler hits everything in one greedy sweep.
The useful comparison: a site crawler answers "what links to what, what's broken, what's a chain." That's architecture. Logs answer "what does Google actually fetch, and how often." That's behavior.
Use the crawler to find the orphan and the redirect loop. Use logs to confirm whether Google even cares.
A site auditor models the maze. It does not model the rat.
