Design your CMS collections before you design a single page, or you'll rebuild everything twice.
The playbook nobody follows. List every content type you'll publish in year one, not just launch. For each, write the fields on paper first, including the reference fields that link collections. Decide your URL pattern per collection now, because changing slugs later breaks links. Add a 'status' or 'featured' field even if you don't need it yet, retrofitting is hell. Only then build the template pages. People who design pages first end up with a flat content type and no way to filter, then they migrate at 200 items in pain.
Wrong? Show me a CMS site that improvised structure and didn't regret it.
