The CTA test sequence I run, in order
People test button COLOR first. It's almost never the needle-mover. Here's the order I work a CTA, top of impact to bottom:
— Verb. 'Download' vs 'Get the guide.' Self-interest beats command.
— First-person framing. 'Start my free trial' beats 'Start your free trial.' Tested it 4 times, won 3.
— Friction-reducer microcopy under the button. 'No card needed' / 'Cancel anytime.'
— Specificity of outcome. 'See my results' vs 'Submit.'
— Size and contrast. Now color matters, because it's about visibility.
— Placement count. One CTA vs repeated CTA down a long page.
Work the list top down. You'll find your win before you hit row 5.
Go change your hero CTA verb to a self-interest phrase. Report back Friday.
