How to read complaints about a partner
Public complaints are noisy. Roughly half come from people who broke the terms and half from people who got robbed, and written angrily they sound identical.
How I filter:
— Ignore tone, read specifics. A precise sequence of events tells you a lot. Vague fury tells you nothing.
— Look for repetition of mechanism. Many people complaining about different things means a big company. Many people describing the same deduction pattern means a policy.
— Check what the company said back. Silence is a data point. So is a legal threat.
— Weight recent over old. Companies change hands and change management.
— Find the disputes that ended resolved. How one finished matters more than that it started.
— Discount anonymous claims with no verifiable detail in both directions. Glowing anonymous praise is cheaper to produce than criticism.
Judge the pattern, never the loudest post.
