Link Whisper is fine — until it makes your anchors a liability
Controversial but: auto-linking plugins like Link Whisper solve the wrong half of the problem. They're great at finding orphans and suggesting where a link COULD go. They're terrible at deciding the anchor, because they keyword-match surface text, not search intent. Run it at scale and you build a site of exact-match anchors all pointing the same way — a footprint, not a strategy.
Use it as a suggestion engine. Approve every link by hand. Never let it bulk-insert.
