Make a real homepage instead of a blog feed

By default, WordPress shows your newest posts on the front page. For a business or portfolio, you usually want a fixed welcome page instead.

1. Go to Pages, Add New. Title it "Home," add a sentence or two, and Publish.
2. Make a second page titled "Blog" and Publish it, leaving it empty. This will hold your posts.
3. Go to Settings, Reading.
4. Choose "A static page."
5. Set Homepage to "Home" and Posts page to "Blog."
6. Save, then visit your site to confirm.

Now visitors land on your welcome page, and your articles live tidily at yoursite.com/blog.

In plain words: tell WordPress which page is your front door, and which room holds the news.
