Ch. 5: Mapping 60 Articles Before Writing One
My coffee site stalled at 3k sessions for 4 months. The fix wasn't more content — it was structure. Here's the map I should've built on day one.
— Pick 5 pillar topics (espresso, grinders, beans, brewing, maintenance)
— Under each, list every "best X", "X vs Y", and "how to X" I could find — landed 60 articles
— Tag each as Money (affiliate), Info (traffic), or Trust (about/contact) — ended at 40/15/5
— Rule: no Money page publishes until 3 supporting Info pages link to it
— Built the internal links in the map BEFORE writing, in a spreadsheet
After rebuilding around clusters, sessions went 3k to 14k in 5 months. Same niche, same writers.
Lesson banked: Google ranks topics, not pages. Map the topic first or you're just publishing orphans.
