Checklist: triage a technical crawl so you fix what moves rankings
I crawled a real e-commerce site in Screaming Frog and Sitebliss, then watched teams waste days on the wrong issues. Here's the triage order.
Fix in THIS order, ignore the rest for now:
— Indexability first: noindex on pages you want indexed, or index on pages you don't. Everything else is secondary.
— Then canonicals: self-referencing missing, or pointing somewhere wrong = real ranking loss.
— Then status codes: internal links to 404/302 chains. Fix the link, not just the redirect.
— Then duplicate/thin titles and H1s at scale — template bugs, not one-offs.
— Last: image alt, minor schema warnings. These rarely move the needle alone.
Screaming Frog:
➕ Best for ranking issues by severity, free under 500 URLs
➖ No prioritization — it dumps everything flat
Sitebliss / cloud crawlers:
➕ Auto-prioritized issue scoring, scheduled re-crawls
➖ Subscription, less granular than Frog
Best for: deep one-off audit → Frog. Ongoing monitoring → a cloud crawler.
Pick this if a crawl gave you 4,000 'issues' and you froze. Skip the panic — 90% of those don't matter.
