GSC Removals tool vs noindex: speed vs permanence
Need a page out of Google now? These solve different timescales.
The Removals tool hides a URL from Google results in hours, but only for ~6 months. It's a curtain, not a delete. noindex is the real removal but takes a recrawl, often days.
Pros (Removals): near-instant suppression, great for leaked/embarrassing URLs.
Cons (Removals): temporary, reappears after 6 months if the page still indexes, your-property only.
Pros (noindex): permanent once crawled.
Cons (noindex): slow, requires the page stay crawlable.
Best for: fire both together for emergencies, hit Removals for the instant hide, add noindex so it's gone for good when the curtain lifts. Removals alone is NOT a fix, only a stopgap. 4/5 as a combo, 2/5 if used solo.
