Native polls vs just asking a question in text
Everyone says: "Polls game the algorithm — easy engagement, easy reach."
The claim: a poll is the lazy hack for guaranteed interaction.
What's actually true: poll votes are cheap signals and LinkedIn knows it. A vote isn't a comment, doesn't pull the post into the voter's network, and the format got visibly throttled after everyone abused it in 2022. A genuine question in plain text that earns a real comment out-travels a poll most weeks.
Use a poll when you actually need the data — pricing, preferences, audience research. Don't use it as engagement bait; the reach you remember was the novelty window, and it closed.
The poll isn't reach. It's market research you mistook for marketing.
