Red flags in the first three conversations
Most bad partners identify themselves early. You just have to be listening for it instead of listening for the rate.
— Urgency with no cause. Caps closing today, must start tomorrow. Real urgency has a reason you can verify.
— Vague on money, precise on volume. They will talk all day about scale and get fuzzy about when you get paid.
— No written terms, or terms that only arrive after you ask twice.
— A rate noticeably above what everyone else offers for the same thing, with no explanation. There is always a reason. Find it before you assume it is your good luck.
— Personal accounts used for business payments.
— Refusal to name the entity, the advertiser, or the source of the offer.
— Irritation when questioned. A professional expects diligence. A fraudster resents it.
None of these is proof alone. Two together is a pattern. Three and you are volunteering.
The questions you are embarrassed to ask are the ones that save you.
