LEAK: you're optimizing RevShare on day-one numbers and missing the cliff
A manager told us the affiliates who get burned on RevShare optimize on week-one revenue and scale a cohort that craters by week three — crypto users deposit, lose or win fast, then go dormant. The early number lied.
The so-what: RevShare on a crypto exchange only pays if users keep trading. Judging a traffic source by its first week is judging a stock by its IPO morning. Retention, not the FTD spike, is the whole game.
— The fix: track cohorts by signup week and only scale sources whose week-3 and week-4 revenue holds. Kill the ones that spike and die.
— Ask the exchange for retention curves by source — they have them and rarely volunteer them.
Reportedly the best RevShare affiliates ignore week one entirely and buy on the tail. Watch this.
