The retention-first scripting checklist

"Write a script that tells a story." Story is fine, but the algorithm reads the watch-time curve, not your narrative arc. Script to the curve:

— Front-load the payoff promise in words 1-8, not a slow build.
— Insert a visual or audio change every 2-3 seconds to reset attention.
— Kill every sentence that doesn't advance or tease. Dead air is a drop-off invitation.
— End on a loop-back line so the rewatch counts as new watch time.

Write the script, then read it asking 'where does someone swipe?' at each line. Storytelling is the skin; retention engineering is the skeleton.
