Should I make people confirm their email twice?
That extra confirmation step is called double opt-in: someone signs up, then clicks a link in a confirmation email to prove the address is real and theirs.
Why it matters: it blocks typos and fake signups, so your list stays clean and your open rates stay healthy. A smaller true list beats a big fake one.
✅ Do this:
— In your email tool's signup settings, turn on double opt-in
— Write a short, friendly confirmation email: "Click to confirm you're in!"
— Make the confirm button big and obvious
Yes, you'll lose a few signups who never confirm — but those were rarely real subscribers anyway.
Homework: send yourself a test signup and confirm it, start to finish.
