The 5-check routine before installing any plugin
A plugin is just an add-on that gives WordPress a new ability, like a phone app. But a bad one can slow or break your site, so run this checklist on the plugin's page in the directory first.
1. Last updated: within the last 6 months. Older means abandoned.
2. Tested up to: should match your WordPress version, shown at the top of your dashboard.
3. Active installations: higher is safer. 10,000+ is reassuring.
4. Reviews: read the 1-star ones, not the 5-star ones. They tell the truth.
5. Support tab: are recent questions actually answered?
Install one plugin at a time, not five at once, so you know which caused any trouble.
In plain words: judge a plugin like a used car, kick the tires before you trust it.
