My comparison tables were perfect on desktop and broken on 70% of my traffic
Month 8: proud of my comparison tables — eight columns of specs, clean on my big monitor. Site doing $900/mo, but conversions felt low for the traffic.
The turn: I finally checked the device split in analytics. 71% mobile. Then I opened my own page on my phone and felt sick — the eight-column table forced a horizontal scroll, the buy buttons were off-screen to the right, and the prices were in a column most people never swiped to see. Seven out of ten visitors were getting a broken experience while I admired it on desktop.
The fix: I rebuilt tables mobile-first. On phones, each product became a stacked card — image, name, price, big buy button, then specs below. Killed the horizontal scroll entirely.
Same traffic, conversion up roughly 60% over the next month. Revenue $900 to $1,450/mo from a layout change alone.
The takeaway: you build on desktop, but your buyers are on phones, and the gap between those two experiences is where money leaks. A comparison table that needs horizontal scrolling hides your buy buttons from most of your audience. Test every money page on an actual phone, not a resized browser window. What looks elegant to you might be invisible to the people paying your bills.
