Deleting controversial posts forfeits the reach you earned
Heard (Confirmed mechanic): replies are an engagement signal regardless of sentiment — a post that sparks argument is being amplified by that very argument. Quote-tweets and heated replies push reach up, not down.
The failure mode: post gets pushback, poster panics, deletes — throwing away an actively distributing post.
The fix:
— Don't delete on a rough ratio; the volume is working for you
— Engage the good-faith replies to extend the window
— Only delete for genuine factual errors, and replace with a correction
What it means for your reach: the algo counts the argument, not who won it.
