A: This is a link-hygiene failure, and it can get you flagged for traffic you didn't generate. Once a tracking link is public, anyone can fire clicks through it — including bots and competitors trying to poison your stats.

How links leak:

— You posted the raw tracking URL in a public chat, forum, or pastebin while testing.
— Your link has no sub-source or signature, so anything that hits it gets attributed to you.
— A referrer header exposes your link on a page you don't control, and a scraper picks it up.
— You reuse one link across channels, so you can't tell clean from dirty.

Fix: never expose raw links publicly; use a redirect domain you control. Add a unique sub-source per channel so you can isolate and cut the dirty one. If a provider supports it, add a signed parameter so unsigned clicks are dropped.
