The relevant-domain trap: right site, wrong neighborhood
Spotted in a few profiles this month: links from perfectly on-topic sites that still do nothing — because the placement sits in a footer, a sidebar widget, or a "resources" dump surrounded by 50 unrelated outbound links. Relevance at the domain level, noise at the placement level.
The mistake is checking topical fit and stopping there.
What the context-aware operators read —
— Where on the page does the link sit? In-content, inside a paragraph a human would read, beats boilerplate every time.
— What surrounds it? A link bracketed by gambling and loan anchors inherits that neighborhood whether your brand belongs there or not.
Multiple teardowns show the same gap: they bought relevance and forgot placement. The neighborhood your link lives in is part of the link. Watch this space.
