Misreading "Crawled – currently not indexed"
This status panics people more than any other, and they usually misdiagnose it. It does not mean a technical block — Google crawled the page fine and chose not to index it. That's a quality/value verdict, not a crawl bug. Resubmitting won't help.
What the status tells you:
— The page is reachable and rendered (good — crawling works)
— Google judged it not worth indexing right now
Where people go wrong:
— Hammering "Request Indexing" — Google already saw it and passed
— Blaming robots.txt or sitemaps that are actually fine
The fix: treat it as a content signal. Common real causes — thin/duplicate content, near-identical templated pages at scale, weak internal linking, or low overall site authority. Strengthen the page (depth, uniqueness, internal links from strong pages) or consolidate it. "Discovered – currently not indexed," by contrast, is often a crawl-budget/priority issue — different fix.
Best for: separating quality problems from crawl problems.
Not for: anyone who treats every exclusion as a bug to resubmit away.
