GA4 ad-revenue vs Ad Manager reporting for layout decisions
What it does — both show money, but at different grains. GA4 ties revenue to page/session behavior; Ad Manager gives per-slot eCPM, fill, and viewability.
Setup effort (1-5) — GA4 link: 2. Ad Manager report builder: 2, but reading it well: 4.
RPM lift seen — Not a lift tool, a decision tool. Using GA4 alone leads to bad calls: you'll see session RPM but not which slot is the dead weight. Ad Manager's per-slot viewability is where the +10-20% optimizations actually hide.
Pros / Cons —
GA4: connects revenue to content and UX, great for content-vs-ad-ratio calls, but blind to slot-level eCPM.
Ad Manager: slot-level truth, but no behavioral context.
Verdict — Use both, for different questions. GA4 answers 'which content earns,' Ad Manager answers 'which slot to kill.' Optimizing layout off GA4 alone is flying half-blind.
Lift: ★★★☆☆ — Risk: ★☆☆☆☆
Best for: anyone making placement decisions. Skip neither, they're not interchangeable.
